This Privacy Policy describes how Shire, Inc. ("Shire," "SHIRE," "we,"
"us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use
the SHIRE platform — a software-as-a-service product for restaurants
that helps operators manage reservations, waitlists, scheduling, and
guest and staff communications.
This policy applies to three groups of people whose information SHIRE
may handle:
Restaurant operators — the owners, managers, or designated employees
who create and administer a SHIRE account on behalf of a restaurant.Restaurant staff — employees of a restaurant who are added to a
SHIRE account by their operator.Guests and diners — people who interact with a SHIRE-powered
restaurant by making a reservation, joining a waitlist, or
communicating with the restaurant through SHIRE.
Information we collect
From restaurant operators
Account information: name, email address, password (stored only in
hashed form), role, and the name and details of the restaurant or
business.Operational data you upload: menu items, table layouts, hours of
operation, restaurant settings, integrations, and other configuration.Billing information if and when paid plans are introduced.
Communications you send to us, such as support requests or feedback.
From restaurant staff
Profile information provided by the operator: name, role, contact
information, and schedule.Performance and operational data: assigned shifts, attendance, and
metrics generated through use of the platform.Communications sent or received through SHIRE while interacting with
management or guests.
From guests and diners
Reservation and waitlist information: name, phone number, email
address (if provided), party size, requested time, and any notes or
dietary preferences you share with the restaurant.Activity information: your reservation history with that restaurant,
including past visits, cancellations, no-shows, and any feedback or
reviews you provide.Communications you exchange with restaurant staff through SHIRE,
including SMS messages.
From website visitors
When you visit our public website at shireintelligence.com or other
SHIRE-hosted pages, our servers automatically log standard request
information used to operate and secure the site:
Server logs: IP address, browser user-agent, referrer URL, requested
page, and timestamp.Device and session information needed to deliver the page and
prevent abuse.
This information is used only to operate, secure, and improve the
site. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or cross-site
tracking on our public website.
How we use information
To provide, maintain, and improve the SHIRE platform.
To send transactional SMS notifications related to reservations,
waitlists, and restaurant communications (see SMS communications
below).To generate analytics and reports for restaurant operators about
their own operations.To respond to support requests and communicate with users about the
service.To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of
our Terms.To comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
SMS communications
▎ SMS at a glance — SHIRE sends transactional text messages to guests
▎ on behalf of restaurants. You can reply STOP at any time to
▎ unsubscribe, or HELP for assistance. Message and data rates may
▎ apply. Message frequency varies.
How guests opt in
Guests opt in to receive SMS messages by entering their phone number
when making a reservation, joining a waitlist, or communicating with a
SHIRE-powered restaurant. The booking and waitlist forms disclose
that by providing a phone number, the guest agrees to receive
transactional SMS messages about reservation status, waitlist
position, table-ready notifications, reminders, and replies from
restaurant staff.
What we send
SMS messages sent through SHIRE are transactional and tied to the
guest's interaction with a specific restaurant. They include:
Reservation confirmations, changes, and reminders
Waitlist position updates
Table-ready notifications
Replies from restaurant staff
We do not send marketing or promotional SMS without separate, explicit
consent.
Frequency, rates, and carrier disclaimer
Message frequency varies based on reservation and waitlist activity.
Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier's
plan. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
How to opt out
You can opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying STOP to
any message. Reply HELP for support, or contact us at
founders@shireintelligence.com. Opt-out requests are honored promptly
and recorded so we can continue to honor your preference.
Sharing of SMS consent and mobile information
SMS consent is not shared with third parties or affiliates for their
own marketing purposes. Phone numbers collected for SMS communications
are used only to deliver the transactional messages described above,
and are shared only with the SMS delivery provider listed in How we
share information.
▎ Mobile information & opt-in data — Mobile information will not be
▎ shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional
▎ purposes. Any other mentions in this policy exclude text messaging
▎ originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be
▎ shared with any third parties. If you wish to be removed from
▎ receiving future communications, you can opt out by texting STOP.
How we share information
We share information only as described below. We do not sell personal
information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own
marketing purposes. SMS consent and the phone numbers collected for
SMS communications are not shared with third parties or affiliates for
their own marketing purposes.
With the restaurant you interact with. When you make a reservation
or join a waitlist at a SHIRE-powered restaurant, the information you
provide is shared with that restaurant so they can fulfill your
reservation and communicate with you.With our service providers (subprocessors). We use a limited number
of vendors to operate the platform:Sakari — delivery of SMS messages.
Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
These providers are bound by contract to use information only to
provide services to us.
For legal reasons. We may share information if required by law,
regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the
rights, property, or safety of Shire, our users, or others.In connection with a business transaction. If Shire is involved in a
merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be
transferred as part of that transaction, subject to standard
confidentiality protections.
Data retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the
service and for legitimate business purposes such as honoring opt-out
preferences, resolving disputes, and complying with legal obligations.
Operator and staff data is retained while the associated account is
active and for a reasonable period after closure.Guest reservation history is retained per the operating restaurant's
needs to provide continuity of service.SMS opt-out records are retained indefinitely so we can continue to
honor unsubscribe requests.
Security
We use reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational
measures to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or
alteration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure,
and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
Access, correction, and deletion. You may request a copy of the
personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete
it, by contacting us at founders@shireintelligence.com. Some
information may be retained where we have a legal obligation or
legitimate business reason to keep it.SMS opt-out. Reply STOP to any SMS message you receive from a
SHIRE-powered restaurant.Restaurant staff. If you are a restaurant employee and have
questions about how your employer uses SHIRE, please contact your
employer directly. We act as a service provider to the restaurant in
handling that data.
Children
SHIRE is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not
knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you
believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please
contact us so we can delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we
will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material
changes will be communicated to active users by email or through an
in-product notice. Your continued use of SHIRE after a change takes
effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
